Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Mutualy ("we", "us") is a mobile app operated by Bernard Salameh, based in Lebanon. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email support@mutualy.me.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: your name, username, password (stored securely, never in readable form) and phone number.
- Date of birth: to confirm that you meet our minimum age. By default, the day and month (never the year or your age) are shown to the people you are connected to. You can turn this off at any time in your Profile.
- Information you add in the app: your connections and the choices you make about them, your tags and stars, your settings, and reports or blocks you send.
- Events and guest lists: the names of events and guest lists you create, the people on your guest lists who are on Mutualy, the events you join (and whether you chose to hide), whether a host locked an event, and reports you send about an event.
- Contacts (only if you allow it): phone numbers in your address book are checked against our users to find people you may know. We do not store the numbers of people who are not on Mutualy, and we never contact or message people in your contacts. If you add someone from your phone's contacts to a private guest list, their name is kept only on your phone and is never sent to us.
- Camera: used only to scan QR codes. We do not store the images.
- Notifications: if you allow them, a device token so we can send notifications to your phone.
- Purchases: Mutualy Plus is a subscription. The app store handles the payment. We use a purchase management service to confirm whether your subscription is active, and we never receive your card details.
- Technical and security data: basic logs, and temporary records (which may include your internet address) used to protect Mutualy from abuse and fake accounts.
We do not collect your location.
2. Phone verification
To confirm that a phone number belongs to you, we send a one-time code by WhatsApp, using messaging service providers. We use WhatsApp only for these codes and never send marketing messages. Codes expire after a short time and are stored only in scrambled form.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and verify your phone number and age.
- To provide the features of the app, including showing you the people you know, the connections you share, and who you already know at an event.
- To send notifications you asked for.
- To process purchases, prevent abuse and fake accounts, handle reports and blocks, and provide support.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or to track you across other apps.
4. What other users can see
Your phone number is not shown to other users. Other users may see your name and username and the connections you share with them, according to the settings and choices available in the app. Some information is private to you. People you block cannot see you.
In an event you join, only the people you are already connected to can see that you are there, unless you choose to hide. Everyone else sees only a number. If you hide, you also see only numbers. The host of an event does not receive a list of who joined, and only the host sees the event's code. Your private guest lists can be seen only by you.
Unless you turn it off, the people you are connected to can see the day and month of your birthday, but never your year of birth or your age. You can turn this off at any time in your Profile.
5. Service providers
We share information only with companies that help us run Mutualy, and only what they need to do so: cloud hosting and database providers, messaging providers used to send verification codes through WhatsApp, notification services, purchase management services, and app stores. These providers may process information on servers outside Lebanon. We may also share information if required by law.
6. Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app, which permanently deletes your profile and the information linked to it. If you cannot open the app, email support@mutualy.me with your username and we will help. Some technical logs held by our providers may remain for a short period before they are removed. Accounts that never complete phone verification are removed automatically after a short time.
A shared event closes on the date its host chose and is then deleted, together with the list of who joined. If an event was reported, we keep the report (the event's name, its host and who reported it) so that we can review it, even after the event is deleted. Names kept on your phone are deleted when you delete the guest list or the app.
7. Your choices and rights
You can edit your information and manage your settings in the app, and turn contacts, camera or notification access on or off in your phone's settings. You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing support@mutualy.me.
8. Security
We use access controls, encryption in transit, usage limits and limited permissions to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
9. Children
Mutualy is not for children under 13. We ask for a date of birth at sign-up and do not create accounts for people under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If the changes are important, we will let you know in the app. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
